Boos greet Pelosi, Wasserman Schultz as Democrats’ convention opens
“I committed to her that I would serve as a surrogate throughout this campaign so we can make sure she can build on the progress that we’ve been able to make for the last eight years, because we have a lot of work to do”, Wasserman Schultz said.

Wasserman Schultz was booed at a meeting of Florida delegates Monday in Philadelphia, and Sanders supporters held a separate demonstration outside Philadelphia City Hall. Among the cringe-worthy revelations: The committee had acted to help Hillary Clinton and undermine Bernie Sanders.
And while he was speaking, Wasserman Schultz announced she would not gavel in the convention, an embarrassing acknowledgment that her presence onstage would only showcase deep party divisions.
Wasserman Schultz, a Florida congresswoman, was jeered at a breakfast a day after she submitted her resignation over the leaked emails. “Get out, Debbie!” Trump said, even though Wasserman Schultz resigned. The previous day, she said she would resign after embarrassing details from DNC communications emerged from a hack of the committee’s emails on her watch.
The release of the emails threatened to undercut Democrats’ efforts to unify the party around Clinton as she faces Republican nominee Donald Trump in the fall.
Her opponent in Florida’s August 30 congressional primary is Tim Canova, a Nova Southeastern University law professor who tweeted Monday that “DWS must be defeated in this election and removed from Congress”. As Politico describes it, everyone from the Clinton campaign to the White House to House Democrats were frustrated with her behavior but chose to look the other way until the Wikileaks story made that impossible.
The first lady was among a high-wattage line-up of speakers taking the stage, all but wiping away earlier tumult that had exposed deep tensions between Clinton supporters and those loyal to her primary opponent Bernie Sanders.
In response, Brazile said: “I have no intentions of touching this. Why?”
Though Sanders has always been calling for Schwartz’s resignation, he also noted the years of service she contributed as Party Chair.
Wasserman Schultz stepped down as the DNC head following a series of 20,000 emails published on WikiLeaks Friday that showed DNC members being critical of Bernie Sanders’ campaign.
Many Sanders supporters are convinced the nomination was stolen from him. He said most viewed Kaine as not progressive enough and that there had been discussion about a variety of protest actions at the convention, including walking out. He said it was imperative to elect Clinton and her running mate, Virginia Sen. But he said Sanders’ subsequent endorsement of Clinton shows that Democrats are united in ensuring Trump does not become president.
Mook said the speeches would be optimistic, offering ideas for helping people and showcasing Clinton’s lifelong commitment to public service.

Sarasota resident Kelly Kirschner, a Sanders supporter, said he doesn’t believe it’s just Bernie fans who think that our politics is not being played fairly these days.
