JK Rowling applauds Harry Potter fans for keeping Cursed Child secrets

“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”, a two-part stage drama that picks up 19 years after the novels ended, has its gala opening Saturday at London’s Palace Theatre, and is all but sold out through December 2017. The timing is fitting – it’s Potter’s birthday and Rowling’s.

“It was always hard being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children”.

But the book is not a novel and it’s not written by Rowling.

The Cursed Child is now sold out, but another 250,000 tickets are set to go on sale next week as the play’s run has been extended until December 2017. Rowling’s hand isn’t totally absent from it, though – playwrights Jack Thorne and John Tiffany collaborated with her for the story.

Three’s a charm: J.K Rowling confirmed there will be three movies in the “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” series.

It spawned six other books in the series, several spin-off books, and eight movies starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint; a ninth movie in the franchise will be released at the end of the year starring Oscar victor Eddie Redmayne.
