NFL Trade Rumors: Josh Gordon Headed To Eagles?

The Cleveland Browns are set to get their star receiver Josh Gordon back this season after missing all of 2015 and most of 2014 due to his repeated suspensions. Gordon is back on a conditional basis after being suspended last season for multiple drug violations.

Gordon is suspended the first four games of the 2016 season but could return in Week 5 against the New England Patriots. “Considering my age, how much time I’ve been out and how much time I got left nobody knows”, Gordon said. “1 yards per catch, and on top of that, his 161 receptions, 2,754-yards and 14 touchdowns in 35 games are exactly what the Eagles need on the outside this season”, wrote Ignudo.

This is where he belongs.

The bigger issue is that Gordon is just one misstep away from another indefinite suspension from the NFL. He’s grown up, learned from his mistakes, and is ready to be productive again. You’ve done your studying, you continue to do your studying, you’ve worked hard, you’ve run, you’ve lifted, all those things, and now you just gotta come out here and have fun. I think all those things are things I worked on (this summer).

During his 12-minute interview with media members, Gordon offered no excuses and didn’t make any promises.

That would allow Matthews to play to his strengths, but it could also take some of the pressure off of other receivers like Nelson Agholor and Josh Huff to perform. Sam Bradford would definitely be the best quarterback Gordon has played with. “But things turn around”. The team was also able to chat with Gordon about what he wants to do with his second chance with the Browns.

“We’ll find out very quickly if he’s serious about it”, Sashi Brown, the team’s executive vice president of football operations, told Ohio.com. It was the resulting face-to-face discussions that led the Browns to believe Gordon was serious about his return. And people here that want to do the most that they can, to do everything that they can to help us. “We’ve got 90 guys on the roster right now and he’s one of those young men that has an opportunity”.

“First and foremost, we understand that the league has expectations for him and we do too”, Jackson said.

“He’s going to have to be accountable to what he needs to do first and foremost. So we’re going to hit the ground running tomorrow and start a practice, and we’ll start evaluating that position as well as all of the positions as we move forward”.

This isn’t to advocate the Browns shopping Gordon, which by everything Brown and head coach Hue Jackson have said this week is not a consideration. We got word from the league and he showed up here less than 24 hours later.

“It’s all about consistency in this league and having consistent fundamentals, consistent drops on all those things and I really harped on that and focused on that to make sure every time I take a three-step drop, it looks the same; every time I take a five, it looks the same”, he said.
