Lightning Took 12 Lives in the State, Left Woman Critical
A woman of Paikasida, two brothers of Namakana and one person of Churmara in Jaleswar of Balasore district lost their lives in the lightning.

The rest five died at Bisalpata, Banta, Tihidi, Bansada and Chandbali areas of Bhadrak district, they said adding at least three persons were injured in incidents of lightning in there.
The lightning took place at about 11.30 AM when rain and thundershower suddenly lashed Soro area.
Two persons, one from Ramachandrapur in Anandpur of Keonjhar district and another of Mendhasala in Khordha, were killed in the nature’s fury.
Most of the victims were people working in the farm and in open space.
A girl of Digidhar village in Baripada of Mayurbhanj district was killed in the lightning strike. Another death from the district came from Jagannathpur village, where Gajendra Patra died in lightning.
According to information, Bhadrak stood first in today’s lightning casualty figure in the state with eight deaths reported from the district.

Similarly, one person was killed at Mangalpur village in Mahakalapada police station jurisdiction of Kendrapara district, police said.
