Despite Sanders giving his endorsement in his own speech at the convention this week, one of her challenges ahead of the November election is to appeal to the group of his supporters who say they will not support her.She praised Sanders for his campaign on Thursday, highlighting its appeal to young people and efforts to promote economic and social justice.

The Democratic presidential nominee, 68, previously spoke during the convention via satellite video after she officially secured the nomination on Monday. “You felt secure, ” Dugan said when asked her reaction to the speech this morning.

Their occasional chants of protest were drowned out by Clinton supporters chanting: “Hillary”.

Away from that, Clinton is setting her sights on taking down the opposition – Republican Donald Trump.

She is launching a three-day bus tour with Tim Kaine in the swing state of Pennysylvania and Ohio. Those two words didn’t come up in Trump’s speech – except in the context of technology transfer to Iran and US military technology.

She said her family were builders of a better life and a better future for their children, using whatever tools they had and “whatever God gave them”.

Rallying in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Trump at times seemed to brush off the fierce Democratic criticism, which went so far as to question his sanity.

“I will carry all of your voices and stories with me to the White House”, she said.

Clinton spoke of the strains that have been placed on U.S. society during the toxic year-long campaign featuring heated rhetoric from Trump and other candidates.

Mrs Clinton told the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia that it also meant good schools for both rich and poor and safe communities.

“America is once again at a moment of reckoning. We do not buy into that dark, divisive image that was presented at the Republican convention last week”, said Clinton, who is the first woman presidential candidate of a major political party.

The crowd also heard from Khizr Khan, an American Muslim whose son was killed in US military service.
