Leicester can replace Kante – Ranieri

“It is important they sign, stay with us and (get) experience in the Champions League”.

Ranieri sees no reason to panic, though, and is adamant they can replace the energetic midfielder.

“I think they want to stay with us to try to improve our last season.

We have to make a plan B”, Ranieri said.

“The situation is the same”. It is the same, football keeps going, doesn’t stop. Football continues regardless of who goes. I feel fit and I feel good. It will give us a taster to see how we will do in the Champions League.

Ranieri said the chairman, Thai billionaire Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, was ready to fork out if the manager decided he needed more players.

This competition could be included among five won last season by France’s all-conquering club of the present era, for they also landed the domestic treble and the Trophee des Champions. “It was hard to replace but we replaced. Ben is a player with a big future and I am very happy that future will be here”, boss Claudio Ranieri told the club website.

Following in the footsteps of Jamie Vardy and Ben Chilwell, King has agreed an extended contract, having come through the ranks at the club and making over 300 appearances with the Foxes.

The 19-year-old has become one of the best young defenders in England, and Leicester will certainly consider this a massive deal, given the fact that Chilwell had been so sought-after these past few months.

King’s previous deal was due to expire in 2018, but he has finalised terms until 2020.
