East Texas judge sentences man to marriage
Bundy told the Tyler television station that the ex was “saying disrespectful things” about Jaynes and admitted he eventually punched the ex in the jaw.

Bundy said the ex-boyfriend did not require medical attention, but pressed assault charges.
Smith County Court at Law Judge Randall Lee Rogers gave Bundy a choice in July after he was charged with assault for punching girlfriend Elizabeth Jaynes’ ex – marrying her as part of his probation or go to jail. The judge also ordered him to write Bible verses and receive counseling. Judge Rogers asked Bundy, according to court transcripts.
However, the couple were afraid Bundy would lose his job if was behind bars so they applied for their marriage license and scheduled a date. And Bundy had to say goodbye to a longstanding sartorial dream, too: “I would have worn a black tux with some yellow under it because I’m a Steelers fan”.
Bundy said that the couple began talking about marriage about six months after they started dating. Or not an offense at all, following the traditional rules of Texas justice.
Kenneth Jaynes, Elizabeth’s father, was angry at the ruling.
“[I felt] anger; I was mad”. “[Rogers] can not do that by courtroom ordering any person to be married. The father of the bride was outraged that a judge could order someone to get married”.
US lawyer Blake Bailey told KLTV that an order to marry is not legal.
The rushed wedding meant important people in the couple’s lives were not in attendance to witness the special day. “It sounds like the old days of shotgun weddings, but not even the judge is capable of enforcing, what he thinks is best for some people in his court”. When Bundy said yes, the judge proposed he married her. This is great because the two things have no bearing on one another.
“We stay paycheck to paycheck”, Jaynes stated, including that she and Bundy had been collectively for 2 years. It’s like telling a murderer they can go to jail or a adopt a baby.

Bundy and Jaynes plan to have a larger wedding in the future when they can save enough money.
