Klopp: Liverpool didn’t fancy Mkhitaryan anyway
Barnes, who lost his own father to prostate cancer, added: “We’re not going to blame Guardiola, Liverpool fans aren’t going to blame Jurgen Klopp, and that’s when the players will then need to take on the responsibility and the accountability for the bad performances because when they play badly we are not going to say its “Jurgen’s fault”, and that’s what has to happen”.

Klopp managed Mkhitaryan at Borussia Dortmund and there was plenty of speculation suggesting the German would be reunited with the midfielder at Anfield.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has declared that “this is my squad now” after a busy summer transfer market in which he has overseen various changes.
“If you have seen them in training, there is a special quality that we did not have a year ago”, said Klopp.
“There are probably no players here anymore I don’t want”. That’s how it is.
‘We didn’t look for players we had already worked with.
“To develop a team never ends so, you have only result, result, result, but then you will have to again decide”. Where is the next step? Where is the next push for development?’ I don’t think we’ll have a lot.
One player Liverpool did miss out on was Mario Gotze, who ended up leaving Bayern Munich for Dortmund.
Klopp freely admits he himself has spent relatively large amounts of money since arriving at Anfield, including the most he’s ever spent on a single player in splashing out £30m on Southampton forward Sadio Mane.
Talks were held with the Germany global but with the Reds unable to offer Champions League football, Gotze wouldn’t commit and wanted to keep his options open until after Euro 2016. I look for other players, the ones who have the quality and ability to play in the Champions League but are ready to qualify together.

“I don’t know exactly how much we have spent so far”. Maybe there is only one year when they don’t play Champions League but that is maybe the most important part of their thoughts.
