The eighth season will bring the saga to a close.

HBO has confirmed that “Game of Thrones” will conclude with season 8.

Creators of the hit drama series “Game of Thrones” have chose to end the show after eight seasons. “Believe me, as the new [programming executive] coming in, if I could get them to do more, I would take 10 more seasons”.

Asked about the possibility of a spinoff of some sort, he added: “We’ve talked about it, it’s something I’m not opposed to, but of course it has to make sense creatively”.

Mr Bloys indicated there could be just six episodes in the final season but said the exact number – and the length of the episodes – was still up in the air.

“We’re open to it, the (producers) aren’t opposed to it, but there’s no concrete plans right now”, Bloys said. HBO has been reached out for a clarification. It’s a pretty intense production, they’re about to start production soon.

HBO has finally addressed a much lingering issue about “Game of Thrones” and that surely is not pleasant for the fans.

Bloys noted that the showrunners had gone into the show with a plan for a certain number of seasons, and that he was abiding by their desire to end in 2018. The seven-episode drama will be based in Northern Ireland with portions filming in Spain and Iceland.
