The two were barred from the games by swimming’s world governing body, FINA, in line with the new criteria for Russian athletes announced by the International Olympic Committee.

“We trust that we could also clarify that the International Olympic Committee ruling on previously banned Russian athletes does not apply to Yulia as she was declared eligible to run”.
Adams said the process would be completed by August 5, the day the 2016 Olympics open in Rio de Janeiro.
The move by the two Olympic medal winners was announced as the International Olympic Committee held two days of talks on fallout from the Russian Federation doping crisis.
Morozov, a member of the 4x100m freestyle relay team that came third in 2012 in London, was one of seven Russian swimmers banned by the International Swimming Federation (FINA) following the IOC directive.
“The integrity of the weightlifting sport has been seriously damaged on multiple times and levels by the Russians, therefore an appropriate sanction was applied in order to preserve the status of the sport”, said a statement published on the IWF website.
Morozov, a member of the 4x100m freestyle relay team that took bronze at the 2012 London Games, and Lobintsev, victor of a silver in the 4x200m freestyle team in Beijing in 2008, have taken their action against the International Olympic Committee and FINA.
Morozov said in a letter to FINA president Julio Maglione this week that he had never failed a drug test taken by Russian and worldwide experts.
The Chinese company is set to operate the system for the duration of the Games to ensure everything goes smoothly.
“It has always been the case in the Olympics”.

Last week, the IOC refused to ban the whole Russian Olympic team from the games, contrary to the recommendation of the Word Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), which advocated an indiscriminate punishment for all Russian athletes, citing allegations of a state-sponsored doping system made in an independent report commissioned by WADA to Canadian sports lawyer Richard McLaren.
