Seeking to offset possible weariness with a politician who has been in the spotlight for decades, he said of Clinton: “She’s been there for us, even if we haven’t always noticed”. Thursday night she was making that case for herself on the convention’s final night. “She’s had quite a set-up but this is her moment”, Clinton adviser Kristina Schake said on CNN. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said Trump supporters “buy into this dark message that somehow America’s not great. Happy for boys and men, too, because when any barrier falls in America, for anyone, it clears the way for everyone”, she continued.
“He thinks that he knows more than our military because he claimed our armed forces are ‘a disaster, ‘ ” she said. Clinton’s running mate, Virginia Senator Tim Kaine, called Trump a “self-promoting, one-man wrecking crew”. At the Democratic National Convention, she showed her bumper sticker: Vote Clinton Because You Can’t Vote Trump.
Trump will campaign in Colorado on Friday and is scheduled to visit OH next week.
She acknowledged those concerns briefly, saying “I get it that some people just don’t know what to make of me”. “Let me ask you, if you have read the US Constitution?”
“It’s not just a detail if it’s your kid, if it’s your family”, she said. “Instead we will build an economy where everyone who wants a good job can get one, and we’ll build a path to citizenship to millions who are already contributing to our economy”. His supporters descended on the city in hopes of a contested convention.
The previously unreported incident at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, or DCCC, and its potential ties to Russian hackers, are likely to heighten accusations, so far unproven, that Moscow is trying to meddle in the U.S. election to help Trump. American flags waved in the stands of the packed convention hall and the crowd broke into chants of “U-S-A!” drowning out scattered calls of “No more war”. You’re right. “We might as well have been talking about two different countries or, as a friend said to me, two different planets”, she said. “Your cause is our cause”. Her acceptance speech was a sharp contrast to his last week in Cleveland, where he accepted party’s nomination by all but warning of America’s impending doom.
“Don’t believe anyone who says ‘I alone can fix it, ‘ ” she said. That vote is one of the biggest moments of her career and a self-described “mistake” that played a big role in her 2008 primary loss and which still keeps many American voters from coming to her side.
“We have to heal the divides in our country”, Clinton said.
The evening sounded at times more like a traditional Republican convention than a Democratic one. Speakers, some of whom included military and police officers, made frequent mentions of religion and patriotism. “With her as our commander in chief, America will continue to lead in this volatile world”, he said in speech excerpts.
Virtually every minute of Clinton’s convention conveyed her history as a woman “in the arena”, as President Obama put it in a nod to Theodore Roosevelt. “Imagine, imagine him in the Oval Office facing a real crisis”.
Both candidates’ children say they are friends, a relationship they struck up before their parents launched campaigns for the White House.

Like the convention itself, Clinton’s almost hour-long speech was created to showcase her life in the policy trenches, fighting not for revolution but for change nonetheless.
