Referred to as “the eighth story, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a script of the play of the same name, which has been in previews at the Palace Theatre in London over the last few weeks, and made its official world premiere tonight”.

The Boy Who Lived is still very much alive in the minds of Harry Potter fans in Southland.

“We’re going to tear open the boxes, we’ll probably cheer and everything, and have a big line”, Co-owner and manager, Christian Westbrook said.

Rowling – pictured above with Sam Clemmett and Poppy Miller, who play Albus and Ginny Potter in the production – said that the idea of a stage play was a good fit with her vision for the younger Potter generation.

Kate D’Auria, 24, of Manhattan, was the first person to buy “Harry Potter and The Cursed Child” at the launch of the new book at Barnes and Noble in Union Square.

Harry and his son Albus Severus (named for Dumbledore and Severus Snape) each one struggle with the legacy of the Potter name, after Harry defeated Voldemort.

Adding that he did not have a favourite character he said fans would need to read the book themselves to find out more.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be available in all markets supported by iBooks beginning on July 31, coinciding with the birthday of Harry Potter himself.

It’s building excitement not only for wizards and muggles, but for booksellers who are seeing their biggest pre-order since the last installment in the Harry Potter series nearly a decade ago. “So, I’m thrilled to see it realised so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now”.
