Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn opened up a two-shot lead at the top after a six-under-par 66 in the third round.

Jutanugarn was the closest challenger to Lee overnight and cut the deficit with a round of 69, while Feng sits alongside her on 10 under par overall. The Women’s British Open was established by the Ladies’ Golf Union in 1976 and was meant to serve as the women’s equivalent of The Open Championship. On Friday she had played herself into contention with…

World No 1 Lydia Ko had her best round of the championship with a three-under-par 69, although a double-bogey at the 18th rather spoiled her otherwise flawless card.

“Everything was OK. Just OK, not flawless”, Lee said. “I had issues with my tee shot”. Earlier this season, she shot an opening-round 64 in the U.S. Women’s Open before finishing in a tie for 11th place. The two-time LPGA Tour victor missed the cut in the ANA Inspiration to start the major year, and tied for fourth in the KPMG Women’s PGA.

“I think I know how to play under pressure”.

“I feel a lot more comfortable”, Jutanugarn said.

Jutanugarn had a 69.

Jutanugarn realised after her first practice round on the Marquess course that she would not require her driver for this event.

“I like this style so much”, Jutanugarn said about the course. “I like everything here”. “I’ll have to put the golf clubs away and get ready for the birth”, said Young.

Just as was the case when the third round got underway, however, only three players are ahead of Matthew as the final round gets underway, so for all that the deficit is six shots she knows that things can turn around again.

“I didn’t drive the ball as well today, so you know, I only made three birdies, but I managed to make some really good pars out there”.

South Korea’s Ha Na Jang (67) and 46-year-old Scot Catriona Matthew (65) were 9 under.

“If she keeps playing like she keeps playing, she’s going to be tough to catch”, Matthew said. “I played okay but I just had some loose shots at the end when my back was killing me and my feet were killing me”, she told Reuters after Woburn’s severely undulating fairways and greens got the better of her. “The putts actually dropped today”.

“I felt like I played pretty decent, just didn’t hole any putts”, Hull said. “But back nine is more windy and the more times, really late”.
