Rebels, 1 Soldier Killed in Gunbattles in Indian Kashmir

India may boycott the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association conference in Islamabad next month to protest Pakistan’s decision not to extend invitation to speaker of the Srinagar-based assembly for the meeting, Indian newspaper said on Friday. “The sources have told me that a second attacker who was killed during encounter was also a resident of Indian held Kashmir”, he stated. First, Pakistan seems to have taken a leaf out of Chinese strategy and embarked on a new political stratagem on the Kashmir issue even for multi-lateral events. The Indian intelligence agencies have transferred the accused to Sri Nagar.

India often accuses Pakistan of pushing armed militants across the border, a charge Islamabad denies, saying it only provides diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiri people’s struggle for the right to self determination.

Pakistan’s position on Jammu & Kashmir would be compromised if the speaker of the “Kashmir’s legislature is invited to the conference”, Aziz said.

On August 2 and 3, Pakistani troops had violated the ceasefire four times by resorting to small arms firing in forward posts along LoC in Krishnagati, Mandi, Balakote and Pallanwala sectors of Poonch and Jammu districts.

After undergoing training in two different modules with the Lashker-e-Taiba terror group, Yakub along with three others had entered into India through Baramulla in North Kashmir area by cutting the fencing.

Pakistan is hosting the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference from September 30 to October 8 for which over 70% of the delegates have confirmed participation. “It comes under Union List of entry 97 where Parliament has exclusive powers and it is applicable to Jammu and Kashmir as well”, the law secretary said. Grounds for Retaliation Although Pakistan’s notorious “jihad culture” has long been exposed and widely condemned, living and breathing executors of this deadly threat like Naved and Kasab are advantageous for India to galvanise global public opinion and gain diplomatic endorsement for overt and covert counterterrorism responses. If India blames Pakistan for terrorism inside the country, Pakistan retaliates by accusing India of interfering in its internal troubles. Talking about bilateral talks with India, Sartaj Aziz said Pakistan had not as yet responded to India on the national security advisers’ meeting proposed by the latter on August 23 in New Delhi.
