“It’s been lock and key here, we haven’t been able to have access to it, but as soon as all the customers are gone I know all the booksellers will probably be surreptitiously reading it themselves”. It’s set to be released at midnight Saturday.
Now that he’s reached adulthood, even the charmed Harry Potter has problems similar to the ones many of us face as parents.
The newest story set in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter universe, called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, has launched worldwide on Apple’s iBooks platform.
The play and book feature the grown-up Potter as an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic and father of three children, who is grappling with his past.
Dozens gathered at a downtown bookstore in Hong Kong to get the new title and try on Harry Potter costumes provided by the store.
USA bookseller Barnes & Noble, which is also hosting parties, said the Potter books still top their best-selling lists.
The author also shared her thanks with the fans for not posting Cursed Child spoilers on the net. The Palace Theatre in London hosts 1,400 seats over four levels – with 300 of these seats out of every performance assured to go for £20 in order to make the play more accessible to the wider public.
“We all grew up with the Harry Potter books but this is the first time we can come and get it by ourselves – we would have been here at midnight if it was open!”
“It’s fantastic. I brought them along today because Lauren was only five months old when the last book was released and I wanted them to experience the excitement of the book launch”, she said. The theatrical offering allows fans to see Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, and many other fabled favorites on the stage for the first time this week, as Harry Potter and the Cursed Child opens in London’s West End, but this may just be the beginning.

“He goes on a very big journey during these two plays and then, yeah, I think we’re done. This is the next generation, you know”, said Rowling, who later appeared on stage during a standing ovation at the end of the show.
