Bipartisan backlash for Trump, after questioning Khan family

One of the most memorable moments from the two week spectacle that was the back to back Republican and Democratic national conventions was a moving speech by Khizr Khan, who spoke onstage at the DNC as a representative of the American Muslim community.

Khan didn’t stop there, though; he then questioned how much Trump actually knew about the United States and its laws.

She said she was overcome with grief. “Did Hillary’s script writers write it?”

“He was kind of trying to turn that into some kind of ridicule”, Kaine said after a campaign event in Pittsburgh on Saturday, referring to Trump’s comments.

Trump said Khan appeared “very emotional and probably looked like a nice guy to me”. “I work very, very hard”.

Humayun Khan was killed by a suicide bomber in Iraq as he approached a vehicle packed with explosives.

The real estate mogul and reality TV star turned politician also suggested that Khan’s wife, Ghazala, stood silently beside her husband at the podium on Thursday because she had been forbidden to speak because of the family’s Muslim faith.

Khizr Khan had stated, during a speech at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, that Trump had “sacrificed nothing and no one”.

He asking the 70-year-old real estate tycoon to “go look at the graves of fearless patriots who died defending the United States of America”. Go look at the graves of the fearless patriots who died defending America – you will see all faiths, genders, and ethnicities.

“You have sacrificed nothing”, Khan said.

In a separate interview with New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, who also sought reaction on the Khan speech, replied: “I’d like to hear his wife say something”. I’ve done, I’ve had tremendous success.

Standing next to Khan was his wife, Ghazala.

“What he has said, what he has threatened to do … you must say ‘enough, ‘ ” Khan said.

Although only the latest instance in which Trump has attacked a convention speaker, the Republican nominee’s remarks drew strong rebukes Saturday – but only silence from several senior GOP leaders, including House Speaker Paul D. Ryan, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and the vice-presidential nominee, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.

Pressed by Stephanopoulos to name the sacrifices he’d made for his country, Trump said: “I think I’ve made a lot of sacrifices”.

‘I wanted to say 10 other things about him, and she said, ‘Don’t go to his level.

Trump’s initial response on Saturday was that he had made sacrifices – especially when it comes to his business dealings. She had nothing to say. She was extremely quiet, and it looked like she had nothing to say. “I think I’ve done a lot”, Trump said.

He also responded to Khan’s assertion that Trump hadn’t sacrificed anything for his country.

With Ghazala by his side on the convention stage last week, Khizr Khan blasted Trump’s rhetoric on Muslims and immigrants. “Capt. Khan and his family represent the best of America and we salute them”. “I was in pain”.

“I said: ‘I really don’t, I have my thoughts in my head, ‘ ” he told the Times.

Can you imagine ANYONE saying such a thing? Pulling his pocket version of the Constitution from his jacket, he questioned whether Trump has read the document. Khan offered to loan his copy of the Constitution to let understand read about people’s rights.
