RNC Day 4: Trump To Accept Nomination, Delegates React To Cruz
The speech, which largely centred on law and order, also blamed Obama for the rise in homicides in the USA a year ago. The 28 nations that are part of the NATO alliance have all signed a treaty pledging to automatically come to the aid of any member country that is attacked. This new Trump really looks presidential!

“I addressed the convention because Donald Trump asked me to”.
Here is McIver’s statement in full, re-typed from the PDF released on the Trump campaign website Wednesday morning.
Looking ahead to her own speech Thursday night, Ivanka Trump joked in the interview joked that her biggest hope is that she doesn’t trip on stage.
Former Republican U.S. presidential candidate Ted Cruz tried to link arms with Republicans at the party’s national convention Wednesday but was booed lustily by delegates when he ended his speech without offering Trump his endorsement or even saying he would vote for the NY billionaire. Manafort told NBC News that Cruz “made a mistake” and exercised “very bad judgment”.
Trump did not touch upon the incident in his convention speech.
Republican candidates had pledged during the primary contests to support the party’s eventual nominee.
Cruz admitted that there are many options that he could have taken, including to “turn tail” and not go to the convention.
“Stand and speak and vote your conscience”, Cruz said. The first-time Texas senator was the last serious challenger to drop out of the race for the Republican nomination after a bitterly contested battle with the front-runner, Trump.
Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, John Legend, Emmy Rossum and many other celebs were appalled by Trump’s acceptance speech and took to social media.
Additionally, Democratic primary voters who supported Bernie Sanders are still reluctant to come over to Hillary Clinton. He said Cruz would have been better off staying away and sending a video message like the one from Florida Sen. He added that “now that cloud is lifted off” Mrs. Trump. Cruz finished second to Trump in the crowded Republican primary campaign and congratulated the GOP nominee on his victory.
Then one of the event’s highlights, a speech by Trump’s wife on Monday night caused controversy over plagiarism because she used some lines that were similar to passages in an address by first lady Michelle Obama in 2008. He told ABC that “people make mistakes”.
In his 75-minute speech at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland Thursday night, Trump – who has never held elected office – laid out the case against Clinton, and portrayed himself as an alternative to traditional politicians.
“I assume the Trump campaign wanted me to speak”, said Cruz.
Both Kasich and Cruz have refused to back the blustery real estate mogul, citing his proclivity for insults and lack of policy experience.

He also praised the “unity” the convention created despite the floor fight over the convention’s roll call and the loud boos that Ted Cruz received when he declined to endorse Trump in his convention speech. It served up a fresh reminder of why Trump is such a hard nominee to swallow for many in the GOP establishment.
