Moscow concerned with Israeli plans to build new settlements in West Bank

After an Israeli-Turkish reconciliation deal in early July, Turkey sent an aid ship to Gaza through an Israeli port and a delegation that met separately with Israeli, Palestinian and Hamas officials to explore Gaza’s energy crisis and outline possible solutions.

Israeli authorities Sunday forced a Palestinian to demolish his privately-owned house in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of al-Thawri, under the pretext of being built without an Israeli-issued permit, according to the house owner. Since then, Israel has built 125 Jewish-only housing settlements – considered illegal under global law – across Area C, according to B’Tselem figures.

Qaraqe added that the Palestinian prisoners said they were dependent on the Ma’an TV channel for their main source of news on Palestine and deeply resented the IPS officials’ decision.

Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications and Government Spokesman Mohammed Al Momani said that the Jordanian government condemns in the strongest possible terms and rejects all recent measures taken by the Israeli government in this regard.

Israel prevented at least nine footballers players from crossing from the West Bank into Gaza to join their team for the opening match of the Palestine Cup on July 26.

The statement noted that more than 650 Palestinian structures have been demolished this year, which is already higher than the number demolished in eastern Jerusalem and the West Bank in all of 2015.

The complaint comes as the Israeli military has refused to allow seven players from Gaza-based Shabab Khan Younis to exit the Gaza Strip in order to play a Palestine Cup match in the West Bank in Hebron on Saturday.

“As the recent Quartet report highlighted, this is part of an ongoing process of land seizures, settlement expansion, legalisations of outposts, and denial of Palestinian development that risk entrenching a one-state reality of perpetual occupation and conflict”. The global community did not recognize the annexation of East Jerusalem by Israel in 1967.
