Omaha native Jake Ellenberger earns quick victory at UFC 201

UFC 201 unfolded last night (Sat., July 30, 2016) live on pay-per-view (PPV) from Philips Arena in Atlanta, Ga., featuring the highly-anticipated Welterweight clash between current champion Robbie Lawler and teammate Tyron Woodley. With Ellenberger breathing heavily, Brown stalked his opponent into the cage before be dropped once again, this time with a kick to the body. It was a wonderful right hand over the top. After being pursued to the ground, Brown recovered and was able to return to the feet where he began to go on the offensive. Although Ellenberger held control of Brown, the veteran mixed martial artist fought his way out of trouble and eventually, landed seven strikes of his own. While Brown was pressing his fleeing opponent, Ellenberger threw a mid kick that found its mark. He was the betting underdog in the fight at +255.

It looked like Brown might turn things around after he landed a couple of stiff jabs that had Ellenberger backing up.

The knockout not only gets Ellenberger back into the win column, it also notches another accomplishment on his belt as he becomes the first fighter to put Brown away with strikes during his 35 fight career. With Brown face down as he clutched his mid-section, Ellenberger leapt in with a series of short punches, forcing the referee to stop the fight.
