Katy Perry Sings ‘Rise’ at Democratic National Convention
In 2003, she was still a senator from NY.

Pledging to be a president for “all Americans”, the former secretary of state received thunderous cheers from thousands of delegates in the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia where she called for unity in a nation at a “state of reckoning”.
She offered herself as a bridge between America’s warring parties, pointing out the country’s greatness even as she acknowledged its problems and fears. And she recognised the historic nature of the moment: “When there are no ceilings, the sky is the limit”. I’d say she didn’t electrify the crowd like Barack Obama, Michelle Obama or her husband, Bill Clinton, but she did what she needed to do.
On social media, Bradley Cooper took some heat from conservative fans of his performance as Navy SEAL Chris Kyle in 2014’s “American Sniper”.
“A man you can bait with a tweet”, Clinton said, “is not a man you can trust with nuclear weapons”.
“He insisted that America is weak” and he is the only one who could fix it. “It set off alarm bells”, Clinton said, noting that the founding fathers in nearby Independence Hall created the US form of democracy. Donald Trump was also all for the Iraq War. She said he “wants to divide us from the rest of the world and from each other”. “We will not build a wall”. “We will also liberate millions of people who already have student debt”. We will not ban a religion. “We will work with all Americans and our allies to fight terrorism”. “That’s life. After Clinton is in the White House, we are fighting her”.
The video and speech predictably skipped of her vote for the Iraq War. She was quick to point out that the wealth and the power that one had accumulated wouldn’t come into play on that day.
Sanders declared his support for Clinton in an earlier speech at the convention.
“I’ve laid out my strategy for defeating ISIS”, Clinton said. We have the most powerful military. “We will surge our intelligence so that we detect and prevent attacks before they happen”. Hillary knows she needs all Democrat supporters to get behind her and she made it clear she was for working with Sanders, rather than against her one-time rival. Clinton and Trump are tied in the RealClearPolitics polling average.
Keith added to Britain’s Grazia magazine: “You know it ain’t over yet”. Do you think he’s the right guy for her? And less respect for them period.
We’ll talk about the speech, and the divisions in the Democratic party with our panel.
I sure hope so.
Clinton was welcomed with loud cheers as she entered the arena and embraced her daughter Chelsea, who introduced her as the next President of the United States.

The tit-for-tat comes after Donald Trump’s wife, Melania, was criticized last week after being busted brazenly pinch from a speech First Lady Michelle Obama gave at the Democratic National Convention in 2008. “Your cause is our cause”. So let’s be stronger together.
