The Cursed Child is a magical cracker
A new “Harry Potter” play that opened to swooning reviews and delighted gasps from the audience marks the end of the journey for the beloved boy wizard, his creator J.K. Rowling said at the play’s premiere in London on Saturday.

No offence, but I really wouldn’t want to see the play because the book was so good, I want to keep it in my head.
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and his wife Saadiya arrive for the opening performance of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Witches and wizards have streamed into bookshops across Australia to conjure up a copy of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – the final installment of the global phenomenon.
Rowling said fans have “been awesome, they’ve been incredible”.
The stage play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” had its gala opening Saturday in London’s West End and is already the theater event of the year.
For most people, particularly the “90s children, the return of the franchise, irrespective of the presentation, is more of an opportunity to relive their childhood”.
‘I guess no one really knows what happens 19 years on and I’ve always wanted to know what happens to [Harry Potter’s] kids and his family’.
“I probably won’t get any sleep tonight because I will be reading it”.
The book, published by Hachette in India was launched at three locations across Delhi NCR here – Mall Of India in Noida, Vasant Kunj in Delhi and Ambience Mall in Gurgaon at OM bookstores. And while the rest of the “Potter” series followed Harry, Hermione and company through their adolescent years at Hogwarts, “The Cursed Child” is set many years down the road, featuring the original characters as grown-ups sending their own children off to magic school.
It’s different from the previous seven books because of its format – it is, after all, the script of the play.
“[It] chimed perfectly with the material I had about the next generation and I could see it would work perfectly”, Rowling told Reuters.
The other studies showed that Harry Potter had a positive impact on attitudes towards immigrants and refugees, which were categorised as groups that are similarly discriminated against.
Those were the words of author JK Rowling when she was asked about the possibility of penning a new story following the adventures of The Boy Who Lived.

The scepticism, however, did not stand in the way of them being among the first ones to get themselves a copy. “I didn’t expect there to be another book, so it’s a happy surprise”. It is kind of off-putting.
