Clinton up 3 points in post-convention poll

With a superbly written, adequately delivered acceptance speech Thursday night, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton closed out a almost flawless party convention in Philadelphia by pitilessly attacking her Republican rival and laying out a liberal agenda for her administration.

In her roughly hour-long speech, Clinton repeatedly returned to her campaign’s overarching theme, that Americans are “stronger together”.

Trump in his Republican National Convention speech last week painted a dark, divisive picture of America that he said he alone can fix, she said. “Happy for grandmothers and little girls and everyone in between”, Clinton said. Clinton asked. “Isn’t he forgetting troops on the front lines? Any politician who does not grasp this danger is not fit to lead our country”, he said last week in Cleveland. And we must unite around the candidate who can defeat a risky demagogue. “This changes my entire life”. “We all hope for a better tomorrow”, the narrator (who is, by coincidence, Morgan Freeman) says.

Likability: Clinton also implicitly acknowledged her problems connecting with certain groups of voters, including those who are openly hostile to her.

“Hamilton”: Clinton just a few weeks ago held a fundraiser at a performance of “Hamilton”, when she made it clear how much she was of a fan of the show.

And how she fights for the children! “Too many threats at home and overseas”.

Trump was also not impressed by John Allen’s speech on Thursday night and said that retired four-star Marine Corps general failed at fighting ISIS. “You need both understanding and action”. These issues were mentioned, but not even the mostly Clinton-sympathetic mainstream media bothered to mention them prominently.

“Through all these years of public service, the service has always come easier to me than the public part”.

“You know what? I’m starting to agree with you”, Trump said, to the delight of the crowd at a rally Friday afternoon in Colorado Springs.

“And to all of your supporters here and around the country: I want you to know, I’ve heard you. I’ve created thousands and thousands of jobs, tens of thousands of jobs, built great structures”, Trump said. The Democratic event, packed with celebrities and well-received speeches by President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and former President Bill Clinton, had reached more viewers than the Republicans for each of the first three nights of their respective conventions.

Trump interpreted Sen. Bernie Sanders’ sour expression as evidence the Vermont senator regretted supporting Clinton.

Because Bill is a man, he won’t have to make the kind of political compromises his wife did-no one will question his dedication to his daughter or his cookie-baking skills, and no one will look at his choice to put his energies into his career and suggest it’s evidence of militancy or interpret it as an indictment of stay-at-home dads.

Clinton then worked her husband’s shirt into the speech, saying, “In fact, my husband told me on the bus ride here. you know, this shirt he has on right now, he said, that’s made in Reading, Pennsylvania”.
