“I thought she would give me a big, fat, attractive congratulations”, Trump stated, also knocking her speech for saying he could be baited by a tweet on Twitter.
On her bus tour, she is being accompanied by her husband, former president Bill Clinton, her running mate, Virginia Senator Tim Kaine and his wife Anne.
“I watched last night”, Trump said. Trump has been widely criticized for contorting his arms at a November campaign event, in an apparent attempt to mock New York Times reporter Serge Kovaleski, who has a chronic joint disease that limits his arm movements.
“We are not against you – we are against hateful rhetoric; we are against language that divides”, the crowd shouted as hundreds of Trump supporters filed past them on the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs campus.
Trump, however, has taken a two-percentage point lead over Clinton, marking the first time he has been ahead since early May, according to a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll. However, he wasn’t happy about the venue limiting the amount of people who were allowed into the space – saying there were thousands of people outside waiting and also in another side room.
“I was curious to see whether she would do a class act and not mention my name or mention it with respect”, Trump said and then he imitated Clinton.
“They won’t let them in, and the reason they won’t let them in is because they don’t know what the hell they’re doing, that’s why”, Trump said to loud cheers.
He made his comments after the rally crowd chanted: “Lock her up!”
“He’s going to bring us jobs, he’s going to close the border, he’s going to stop the terrorists from coming into this country”, said Phil Rutledge, a Trump supporter.
“He’s probably a Democrat”, Trump said.
“Well, I think that you are going to have a woman”.
It’s unclear what historic feat Trump wants credit for. But despite the “crooked” media’s complaints about Trump’s offensive behavior, Trump appealed to his supporters in Colorado.
He said Clinton was “talking last night about how wonderful things are”.
