Patriots to sign ex-Cardinals QB Ryan Lindley

That’s not the case just yet, as the New England Patriots signed the veteran Monday after cutting third-string quarterback Matt Flynn.

Flynn has spent seven seasons in the NFL with the Packers, Seattle Seahawks, Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills.

Flynn, 30, signed a one-year deal in June to function New England’s No. three quarterback behind, who’s presently suspended for the primary 4 video games of the common season, and. Flynn was on the active/non-football injury list with a hamstring injury. After two seasons with Arizona, Lindley was released by the Cardinals on August. 25, 2014.

There is an NFL team that wants Ryan Lindley on its roster.

To be fair, Matt Flynn only attempted 16 passes last season in large part because of the health of league MVP Aaron Rodgers.

It’s all change in New England this morning.

“The Patriots surely hope that Lindley doesn’t make any starts for them this season, but the fact that he made any last year is a reminder that things don’t always play out as planned”.

“We’ll see how it goes”, Belichick said.

When asked what made Lindley the best fit among the free-agent quarterbacks that were available, Belichick cited a few reasons, including a simple one: Lindley can play right now; Flynn can’t. “He’s been with a couple of different organizations, played some. And he’s healthy, that’s the most important trait”. In a battle for the starting position he lost to Russell Wilson, and since then hasn’t started a game. Lindley has two career touch down passes to go with eleven interceptions.

The release of Flynn has minimal financial implications, as his only guaranteed money came in the form of a $20,000 signing bonus.
