Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine kick off battleground bus tour

Donald Trump sparked bipartisan backlash, after the Republican attacked the bereaved parents of a Muslim U.S. Army captain who spoke at the Democratic convention last week.

A night after accepting her party’s nomination to become the first woman to lead a major US party, Clinton wound her way through western Pennsylvania telling voters there’s a strong contrast between her and Republican Donald Trump on the economy.

Clinton on Thursday accepted her party’s presidential nomination at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. That was the most of any speaker.

As it approached the old factory, Clinton’s bright blue bus – which her campaign made sure to tell reporters was made in America – rolled past a small but loud group of Trump supporters holding campaign signs and chanting on the roadside in a lashing rain.

Of Trump, she told Fox News Sunday: “He’s not temperamentally fit to be president and commander in chief”. “You know what? I’m starting to agree with you”, he told the crowd.

Kaine also drew contrasts between the Democratic and Republican conventions.

It was the latest bitter rhetorical volley since the two parties concluded their major conventions last week and the nation looked ahead to a close election this November.

Trump, who said he watched her speech Thursday night “out of curiosity”, said it would have been great if she congratulated him for his primary victories. She probably, maybe she wasn’t allowed to have anything to say.

In contrast, Mr. Trump promised to bring “law and order” to the US with a fiery message of unfairness in America that has resonated with many white, working class voters.

Ghazala Khan has said she didn’t speak because she’s still overwhelmed by her grief and can’t even look at photos of her son without crying.

“I’ve made a lot of sacrifices”.

“Clinton’s large lead in the Philadelphia area is offsetting losses to Trump in other parts of the state”, said David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Research Center.

Trump supporters say Clinton deserves to be prosecuted for her handling of US foreign policy as President Barack Obama’s first-term secretary of state and for her use of a private email server while in that office. I thought she’d give me a big, fat, handsome congratulations. “I think we can pull together because we are stronger together”. Tim Kaine debuted as the Democratic Party’s presidential ticket by kicking off a bus tour through OH and Pennsylvania to highlight a plan to make the biggest U.S.jobs investment since World War II.

Late Saturday night, Trump released a statement calling Humayun Khan “a hero” but disputing his father’s characterisation.
