1 dead, 3 hospitalized in Austin shooting

Police officials confirmed earlier reports that a female in her 20s had been pronounced dead on the scene. Officials described those transported to the hospital as serious, but said their wounds were not considered life-threatening. Stay away from downtown.

“There was a girl freaking out who was injured…”

The shooting is believed to have happened outside Friends bar.

They added: “Separate shootings within the same area”.

“As officers arrived, as you can imagine, with this being shortly after 2 a.m., and the large crowds we have on Sixth Street at this time, all the individuals leaving the bars, it was a very chaotic scene”, Manley said.

Local media reported at least one person had died in the incident, which is still ongoing.

The Austin Police Department posted on its verified Facebook and Twitter pages that there was an active shooting incident downtown just before 3 a.m. About a half-hour later police said the scenes of the shootings were secure. But Manley said the two separate incidents so close together caused the confusion.

The suspect who opened fire in the parking garage was transported to a hospital for injuries he suffered when bystanders subdued him, Manley said. A man was taken to hospital after that confrontation.

The suspect in this shooting was allegedly engaging in an aggravated robbery and fired at his would-be victim.

The shootings come after several high-profile mass shootings in America.

A woman was killed and four people were wounded in shootings early Sunday in downtown Austin.
