It seems like Jared Leto knows where he wants to take the Joker character after August’s highly-anticipated Suicide Squad.

As we’ve learned over the the past 12 months, Leto’s taken his role of the iconic Joker extremely seriously, with a number of reports emerging based on his hardcore and rather unique method acting. During an interview with the Toronto Sun, Leto expressed his love and excitement of playing the character. Because I could easily just play the Joker a couple more times and then retire.

“I hope it’s an introduction (of the Joker) … and not the end! It’s really hard to think about doing anything else!”

Numerous other Suicide Squad actors and crew have revealed that Jared took the role so seriously that he stayed in character throughout the filming process. The Joker has appeared in many different comic books storylines, so the possibilities are endless in the scope of the DC Cinematic Universe. We already know that the standalone Ben Affleck Batman movie might take place at Arkham Asylum; as we shared in that article, the most popular theory is that the film would borrow heavily from Grant Morrison’s Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth, where the Joker plays the part of demented master of ceremonies for prison-wide riot at Gotham’s infamous mental hospital. “He says, ‘That’s a gift from Mr. J, in honour of your relationship.’ I was like, ‘Oh Mr. J, OK, OK.’ So Margot starts to open the box, and there was a note [and a live rat], and it was from ‘the Joker”. This Batman and this Joker. I didn’t know what was going to happen when we got on set. But that would be fun. Hamill reprises The Joker in the newly released animated film, Batman: The Killing Joke.
