American Jimmy Walker holds a one-shot lead after the third round of the weather-affected PGA Championship was finally completed. Because the pairings stayed the same in an attempt to finish, Kisner was to tee off in the final round while the leaders were still playing the front nine of their third round.

He bogeyed two of the first five holes and finished the front side with a 2-over 36.

Branden Grace made one of the biggest moves early, shooting a three-under 67 to move into fourth place at nine under.

We could have more of the same bad weather today, of course – there’s a fair chance the 98th PGA Championship will stretch into Monday, or even Tuesday – so nothing is set in stone.

Rain and thunderstorms halted play early Saturday at the PGA Championship in New Jersey, and there’s more rain in the forecast Sunday.

Walker, a five-time victor on the PGA Tour, was trying to make it a 2016 sweep for first-time major winners following this year’s triumphs by Masters victor Danny Willett of England, American Dustin Johnson at the U.S. Open and Stenson in the British Open.

British Open champ Henrik Stenson and Brooks Koepka are tied for third two shots back.

Harrington, who successfully defended his Open title in 2008 and won the US PGA a month later, birdied the third and picked up another shot on the fifth after hitting the pin with his approach. Day had a no-bogey 67 to keep alive his chance of joining Tiger Woods as the only players to defend the PGA title since it went to stroke play in 1958. The leaders got on the course Sunday morning to complete their third rounds, but they may not finish the tournament by nightfall.

One of the top stories involves defending champion Jason Day, who put himself in a position to challenge second-round co-leaders Robert Streb and Jimmy Walker when he fired a five-under 65 Friday.

Day will tee off in the second-to-last twosome, at 3:07 p.m., with Argentina’s Emiliano Grillo. Last year, Day won the 2015 PGA Championship at Whistling Straights.

Play resumed for 47 golfers at 7 a.m. Sunday. Walker and Streb were scheduled to begin their final rounds at 3:16 p.m.

Following heavy rains Saturday afternoon that suspended the round with 10 players not even teeing off, another. 6 inches of rain fell at the Baltusrol Golf Club overnight.

The players, when their ball lies on a closely mown area “through the green”, may mark the ball, clean it and replace it within one club length no nearer the hole or in a hazard. “We just felt for the fair play of a major championship we needed to play preferred lies in the final round”.

The Swede was level par for the round after 10 holes, but he started to find a good rhythm with his irons and nearly holed his approach to the 11th before adding further birdies at 15 and 18 to card a third consecutive 67.
