Homer and Marge Simpson Endorse Hillary Clinton in ‘Simpsons’ Clip

Hillary Clinton’s “3 a.m. phone call” is probably one of the most memorable campaign ads of the last few election cycles (save for the one where Donald Trump made a speech about the importance of taking Helm’s Deep, but that might’ve been something else entirely). A new ad pops on in front of them, asking who America would trust to take a 3 A.M. phone call from the Situation Room.

In the two-minute long video, Marge and Homer Simpson are watching television and are faced with making a decision between Trump and Clinton for president.

Sound familiar? Those Americans who, defying the rhythms and practices of the current mainstream news business, still retain their ability to recall events in recent USA history, may remember this Hillary Clinton campaign ad from 2008 that opens with a similar setup.

His response? He’s so absorbed in what he’s doing, he simply lets the phone ring.

“Not now I am on Twitter”, cartoon Trump said. “I can’t make love until I’ve decided who to vote for”, she insists.

“It’s for you”, he says, handing the phone to his wife. Bill picks up, and says instinctively, “The Situation Room?”.

The Simpsons, they’re just like Us!

“We’re too late?” a surprised Trump responds eight hours after begrudgingly accepting the call, following an apparently daily routine of pampering, makeup work and application of prosthetic hands. “Just build another wall”.

Homer agrees, and tentatively suggests Trump, whereupon Marge plops Santa’s Little Helper in bed between them. Homer’s still unsure, but when Marge says she questions whether she can ever be with him again, he announces: “And that’s how I became a Democrat”.

It’s not the first time The Simpsons has taken a swing at the Republican nominee. “But out of respect we should refer to him as the Colonel”.
