“I mean, encouraged a foreign actor to engage in espionage”, Wasserman Schultz said.

On Friday, 22, the website Wikileaks published more than 19,000 DNC emails, some of them showing the party favored Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders.

Within hours it was announced that Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings Blake, the DNC secretary, would take over Wasserman Schultz’s convention duties – a move that would keep the Floridian entirely in the background of a gathering that was seen as recently as a few weeks ago as her crowning achievement.

While Canova knocked her for “chasing the spotlight” and spending significant time outside the district, Wasserman Schultz’s campaign pointed to dozens of district events she has participated in this year as evidence that she’s taking the election seriously. Canova came on the scene back in January, and his campaign has served as a vessel of sorts for thousands of Democrats around the national who have been unhappy with Wasserman Schultz’ performance at the the DNC, perceiving that she has been an unfair arbiter during the primary campaign between Bernie Sanders and Clinton, the party’s eventual presidential nominee. “And it was certainly a kick from what had happened to Debbie”, Canova said. Since then, she’s easily swatted away Republican challengers with little effort. She’s raised more money than Canova overall in the race, and continues to have more cash on hand. “It’s politics, it’s campaign season, so it’s not surprising Tim Canova is trying to add fuel to the fire, but in my opinion, when you look at her district, there’s no fire”.

The poll of 400 randomly selected voters in Florida’s 23rd Congressional District who are likely to cast a ballot in the August 30th Democratic Primary election was conducted on July 27 & July 28 on both landline and cell phones. A previous Biden fundraiser had been canceled due to the Orlando shooting. Sanders hinted last week that he might campaign for Canova in Florida and Vice President Joe Biden is hosting a fundraiser for Wasserman Schultz on Friday.

“She’s been dodging debates for the past three months now”, Canova told Fox News on Monday, “and she can’t say, she is too busy, I think”. Clinton defeated Sanders in the district with more than two-thirds of the vote in March.
