Clinton on Trump: ‘A man you can bait with a tweet’
The GOP convention last week in Cleveland fanned “resentment, and blame, and anger, and hate”.

Reuters photographers caught up with several convention-goers, both Republican and Democrat, and asked “If you could speak to your nominee, What would you like them to know about your hopes for the future of America?” “Americans don’t say “I alone can fix it”. The America I know is decent and generous”.
The reluctance of Sanders supporters to get behind her has been a drag on Clinton’s performance in the polls, and a warning sign for November insofar as young voters in particular tend to be marginal voters who before 2004 turned out anemically even in presidential years. A parade of military leaders, law enforcement officials and Republicans took the stage ahead of Clinton to endorse her in the general election contest with Trump.
That’s a flattering explanation for a serious political challenge.
The new presidential candidate was introduced by her daughter Chelsea, who spoke of her mother as “a woman “driven by compassion, by faith, by kindness, a fierce sense of justice, and a heart full of love”.
“I think here at the convention, it’s been exacerbated by the way they are treating people, ” she said. If Trump’s elected president, he said, “how much in debt would we be to other countries?”
He then reminded his audience of their common bonds, offering a more positive vision of a nation whose diversity makes it stronger.
On Wednesday night, Mr Obama told the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia that he struggled to see the America that Donald Trump often described on the campaign trail.
With approval ratings topping 50 percent, aides said, Obama is in a desirable political position heading into the fall to act as Clinton’s surrogate-in-chief.
Lanchaster said she has been following Clinton’s career since 2006, read her autobiography and liked what she did as Secretary of State: “She’s exceptionally qualified”.
After Obama’s speech, Clinton joined him on stage where they hugged, clasped hands and waved to the crowd.
After Clinton’s speech, 71% of viewers CNN polled reacted very positively. This has never been more true, except Democrats believe they can convince voters that Daddy is off bragging to tabloid reporters about his romantic exploits under an assumed name – among other disturbingly erratic acts.
As he has done before working on all major speeches, Keenan reread Obama’s 2004 keynote address at the Democratic convention in Boston, which he delivered while running for the U.S. Senate from IL.
“Powerful forces are threatening to pull us apart, but we will not build a wall”, she said. The polished, professional production of the DNC featured top Democratic stars – Bill Clinton, the Obamas, Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren – who promoted the Democratic message of inclusion and the ideology that “we all rise together”. That is the story of America. “That’s there. He’s not painting a picture of an aspirational one, but something we have to every once in a while remember has been in front of us the entire time”.
His campaign dismissed her convention speech as “an insulting collection of cliches and recycled rhetoric”, that was “delivered from a fantasy universe, not the reality we live in today”. Aides suggested there may have been a touch of spousal competitiveness at play. For months, the Clinton campaign has actively courted moderate Republicans and conservatives.
Toward the end of his remarks in Philadelphia, the president, as he did in 2004, used his own biography to illustrate the ability of the nation to bridge differences. “They taught me that’s the responsibility that comes with being smiled on by fate”.

There’s no telling whether that would happen before Election Day, but the IRS says there’s no legal reason Trump can’t make the tax returns public even as they are under review.
