Game of Thrones to end after season eight
If there’s anything we’ve learnt from the gorey show, it’s to not fall for things until they’re confirmed but this news seems to be set in stone. While it was a bit unclear for awhile as to when the epic show was going to call it quits, the network just confirmed that yes, Season 8 would be its last.

However, just because Game of Thrones is nearing its expiration date doesn’t mean that our time in Westeros coming to an end.
Speaking to the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour, HBO offered a few details on the project.
That includes series seven, which will be a shorter seven episodes (rather than 10) and will be broadcast next year, and the eighth and final season, which is due in 2018.
According to Gizmodo, a spokesperson for HBO said in a comment to a Buzzfeed article that Bloys did not say that “Game of Thrones” Season 8 is definitely the end of the series. So far the show has produced 60 episodes and producers have previously stated that they envision the show running for 75 episodes in total.
Thankfully, HBO feels our pain and has given us a slither of hope in the form of a possible spin-off series.
“We’ve talked about it”, said Bloys.
“It’s not something I’m opposed to, but of course it has to make sense creatively”, he said.
Bloys noted that he doesn’t think Benioff and Weiss could “wrap their heads around it” while they’re still in production on the original series, but that the showrunners “weren’t opposed to it” in theory. The production has made a decision to move the launch in summer 2017 as they are seeking to film in colder weather for creative reasons. I’m open to it.
“Game of Thrones” received 23 Emmy nominations for its sixth season this year. But, fans should be happy the show is ending for creative reasons and not financial reasons.
