Clinton Campaign Reportedly Hacked In Broad Attack On Democrats

WikiLeaks’s dump of 20,000 Democratic National Committee (DNC) emails raised the specter that Russian Federation may be trying to manipulate the outcome of the US presidential election.

The FBI and the Justice Department are investigating the latest intrusions, which also include the committee, CNN and Reuters reported Friday, citing law enforcement officials.

Two others, against the Democratic National Committee and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, are believed to have been orchestrated by Russian hackers.

In a major shock for Democrat Hillary Clinton, a fresh incident of hacking has come to light, highlighting that the computer systems used by Clinton’s presidential campaign were hacked.

An analytical system hosted by the Democratic National Committee and used by Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign team was accessed by hackers.

On Friday, another Democrats’ body announced they had also been hacked in a separate attack.

However, her press secretary Nick Merrill said there was “no evidence that our internal systems have been compromised”.

Clinton and President Barack Obama have both suggested that the cyber assaults were conducted to benefit Donald Trump, the Republican nominee.

The FBI said it “takes seriously any allegations of intrusions, and we will continue to hold accountable those who pose a threat in cyberspace”.

This time, the hackers have targeted the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which raises money and provides assistance for House candidates.

USA intelligence officials and private experts believe that the cyber attacks were committed by agents working for the Russian government.

But the incident does not appear to involve Clinton campaign email.

The hack on the DNC, made public in June, led to WikiLeaks publishing more than 19,000 emails last weekend, some of them showing favoritism within the DNC for Clinton over U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont.

Trump earlier in the week drew criticism for appearing to suggest that Russian Federation should use espionage to find Hillary Clinton’s deleted emails.

“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing”, Trump said at a news conference in Florida.

What was, however, a data program used by the campaign that was maintained by the DNC.

The DCCC called the Federal Bureau of Investigation in to investigate the cyberattack, which Hillary Clinton campaign staffers believe may have originated from foreign governments, Reuters reported on Thursday.

It was not clear if the hack had the potential to damage the campaign publicly. “Everybody should be cautious”.
