Hillary Clinton accepts Democrat party nomination at Philly convention
Obama as well sought to take down Trump, whom he referred to as a “homegrown demagogue” who, he suggested, is not fit to be commander-in-chief. A party now dominated by progressives also tried reaching out to moderate or defecting Republicans with decorated veterans, some tough talk on national security and passionate displays of patriotism. Democratic bungling is the key to Republican success.

“I can’t think of an election that is more important, certainly in my lifetime”, Clinton told supporters at the rally in Philadelphia.
What time does Donald Trump speak?
Mr Clapper said it is not his responsibility to decide whether the two candidates are “suitable” to be briefed on the classified information, he is only tasked with delivering it.
“The fact that they’re a candidate qualifies them”, he said according to Time magazine. And she took a dig at her GOP rival, saying Donald Trump “doesn’t make anything in America except bankruptcies”.
Clinton’s pitch was the antithesis of Trump’s to Republicans in Cleveland where he played on the fears of Americans by offering a dark vision of the U.S. as a frightened, terrorised and lawless nation that only he, the strongman outsider, could fix.
For Democrats, this is a point of both anguish and political calculation.
Kaine said: “We are on this tour so that we can talk about the American economy: to talk about manufacturing; to talk about the way to grow jobs and make sure everybody benefits from our economic growth, not just a few”.
“‘Little’ Michael Bloomberg, who never had the guts to run for president, knows nothing about me”.
Even a campaign volunteer didn’t find Hillary’s to be the best.
Some broadcast networks cut out before 11:45 p.m. mark after Mrs. Clinton finished her speech, but CNN, Fox News and MSNBC aired the celebration until the balloon drop.
“He was kind of trying to turn that into some kind of ridicule”, Kaine said after a campaign event in Pittsburgh. “I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press”.
Trump defended himself in an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos and blasted Clinton as dishonest and weak.
Trump, of course, wants to ban an entire religion.
Clinton’s unpopularity is second only to Trump’s, with a disapproval rating of 55 per cent compared to his 57 per cent, according to recent averages. The briefings are not legally mandated and are only a courtesy provided by the sitting president, nothing more. “Just remember this Trump is going to be no more Mr Nice Guy”.
By the time tens of thousands of red, white and blue balloons cascaded down on Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine at the end of the Democratic National Convention, history had been made, political shots had been fired and the general election had begun. She won’t lose Hispanic votes by noting the need for border enforcement, or by affirming that legal applicants should have priority, or by acknowledging that illegal immigration has driven down wages and increased social costs.
Pence’s remarks on the Hugh Hewitt radio show came days after a Washington Post reporter was searched and ejected from one of his events.
“The assumption is that a certain amount of sensitive information can be shared with the nominee because the nominee has been publicly vetted”, Chen said. (The one between Clinton and Trump is now close.) “A man you can bait with a tweet is not a man you can trust with nuclear weapons“, she said, homing in on the extraordinary danger Trump represents.
The briefings themselves Chen described as a sort of presentation followed by a question-and-answer period. “I worked for Ronald Reagan”, said former Reagan speechwriter Doug Elmets. “It is meant to be a background briefing more than anything else”. The information that’s presented is tailored to what the candidate would like to know; as you might expect, there are no hand-outs.

The briefings aren’t as regular or as detailed as the Presidential Daily Brief. It’s at most a couple of in-person meetings between the candidate, a staffer and representatives of the American intelligence community.
