Brewers C Lucroy blocks trade to Indians
Milwaukee Brewers’ Jonathan Lucroy tips his batting helmet after getting a standing ovation from fans while pinch-hitting during the eighth inning of a baseball game Sunday, July 31, 2016, in Milwaukee. Cheng and Allen also play for Lynchburg. In 97 games overall, he is batting.295 with a.415 OBP and.816 OPS.

Chang, 20, was signed out of Taiwan in June 2013 and is 6-foot-1, 175 pounds and a right-handed hitter. In 337 at-bats, Lucroy collected 101 hits, including 13 home runs, with 50 runs batted in, another 48 runs scored and five stolen bases.
“He has not been traded”, Counsell said. The addition of a power-hitting catcher could make an emerging powerhouse in Queens even more powerful, just as they retired Mike Piazza’s number.
It certainly seemed possible before the game started that Lucroy might not be a Brewer before the night was done. “He has not been traded”.
The reason Lucroy vetoed the trade, according to Yahoo Sports’ Jeff Passan, was because he wanted the Indians to “rip up” his $5.25 million team option for 2017, making him a free agent at the end of this season. There also were reports of a “mystery team” in the mix.
Expect the New York Mets to remain interested and the Mets have catcher Travis d’Arnaud to offer.
Allen, 23, was considered the Indians’ 22nd-best prospect by MLB Pipeline.
Stearns said the Brewers continue to be active in talks. “That’s where we’re at”.
Adding Lucroy to the Texas Rangers lineup would provide an everyday player at that spot but matching up a new catcher with pitchers this late in the season could lead to some chemistry issues. “As of right now, I’m still a Brewer and I’m going to be until somebody tells me differently”.
However, the Texas Rangers emerged on Sunday as a candidate for Lucroy. “I don’t know what is going to happen, but I thought he deserved that”. “It’s just the asking price, I think, is the bigger concern”. Jeremy Jeffress earned his fourth save in as many days and his 27th of the season in 28 chances.

Because the decision to accept the trade is in Lucroy’s hands as a function of his contract, there are several selling points on why he should want to go to Cleveland.
