Mother of US Muslim soldier hits back at Trump over speech silence
Former Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders mentioned his family’s Jewish history in condemning GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s attack on the parents of an American Muslim soldier killed in Iraq.

Khan was one of 14 US Muslims who died serving the United States in the ten years after 9/11 speaks during the final day of the 2016 Democratic National Convention on July 28, 2016, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. But Trump’s response to the speech made matters worse – instead of simply acknowledging Humyun’s heroism and the Khan family’s loss, he went after Khan’s wife, insinuating that her Muslim faith forbade her from contributing to her husband’s remarks.
“Without saying a thing, all the world, all America, felt my pain”, she wrote. John Kasich, the OH governor and former competitor for the presidential nomination, said on Twitter: “There’s only one way to talk about Gold Star parents: with honor and respect.
Whoever saw me felt me in their heart”. Captain Khan was one such courageous example. “Am I not allowed to respond?”
“I implore those patriotic Americans that would probably vote for Donald Trump in November, I appeal to them not to vote for hatred, not to vote for fear-mongering”, he said. Perhaps anxious over the blow back from his newly-released comments to George Stephanopoulos for “This Week” Trump’s campaign late Saturday night released a full transcript of the interview. “His wife, if you look at his wife, she was standing there”.
I would say, you gotta take a look that, because something is going on, and it’s not good.
Khizr Khan invited the Republican nominee to read the U.S. Constitution and visit the graves of American soldiers from many backgrounds at Arlington National Cemetery.
Trump, meanwhile, defended himself on Twitter by trying to change the topic and falsely suggesting he opposed the invasion of Iraq from the beginning.
Hillary Clinton says controlling her emotions was her biggest concern walking on stage at the Democrat National Convention to become the first woman to lead a major party ticket.
Responding to a question, Khan said he appreciates the late night statement of Trump in which he described Humayun as a hero. The Khans took issue with this, because, as they noted, their own son wouldn’t have been able to serve in the United States military had Trump been commander-in-chief.
U.S. Army Capt. Humayun Khan, who died in 2004 in a vehicle bomb in Iraq at the age of 27. “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing”, Trump told reporters.
The U.S. Democratic presidential nominee spoke to a crowd of people where she took aim at Donald Trump asking: “Why does he make Trump suits in Mexico instead of in Brooklyn, Ohio?”
Trump’s comments sparked immediate outrage on social media, including from Republican strategists, who criticized Trump both for attacking a mourning mother and because many considered them racist and anti-Muslim. The Khan family, Muslims of Pakistani heritage, paid the ultimate sacrifice for American citizens, losing one of their three sons in 2004. “And I controlled myself at that time, so it is very hard”, she said.

As other members of families who lost loved ones have said, that’s not what they heard – I don’t hold any ill feeling for someone who in that moment may not fully recall everything that was or wasn’t said. I can not forget when he was going to the plane, and he looked back at me. He knows nothing about true sacrifice. Based on the electoral map and Trump’s demographic problems with Hispanic voters, that looks like a smart strategy today.
