Brewers near deal to send catcher Jonathan Lucroy to Indians
While Milwaukee GM David Stearns, publicly declared the deal dead Sunday, one industry source talking to the Brewers said he wouldn’t be surprised if they talked about it again Sunday.

Two-time all-star Jonathan Lucroy remains a member of the Milwaukee Brewers after exercising his no-trade clause to negate a trade to the Cleveland Indians, per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Lucroy, assuming he waives his no trade clause, would completely turn that situation around.
However, despite rekindling talks earlier this week, it was reported late Saturday that the Mets had not gotten much closer to Lucroy and it was becoming more likely he would get traded to the Indians (Crasnick, ESPN).
The Brewers will get four prospects with the centerpiece being catcher Francisco Mejia, the Indians’ sixth-ranked prospect. The Indians are in first place in the American League’s Central Division, and recently lost starting catcher Yan Gomes to injury.
Gallo has potential be a great player in the Major League Baseball and he may live up to that one day but for right now has just recently been called up by the Texas Rangers and is playing every now and then.
The trade deadline is Monday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
“It’s hectic and kind of insane to think about, but it’s part of the business and I’ve seen guys go through it before”, said Lucroy, who entered the night hitting.300 with 13 home runs and 50 runs batted in.
Lucroy was held out of Milwaukee’s lineup on Saturday night, a signal the teams were closing in on a trade.
Milwaukee also receives shortstop Yu-Cheng Chang, outfielder Greg Allen and a fourth unnamed prospect.
Lucroy said simply that there were “circumstances that came up” that caused him to block the deal.
Jonathan Lucroy, one of the prized players who will be moved ahead of the August 1 trade deadline, will not be coming to the Detroit Tigers. Mejia, a switch-hitter, is now on an impressive 42-game hitting streak in the minors.
Norris is batting.193 with 12 home runs and 33 RBIs in 89 games this season.

“I think right now, a lot of the asking prices are high because there are so many teams asking for the same things, so it’s extremely high”.
