John Bel Edwards are scheduled to deliver remarks at memorial service for the three law enforcement officers killed in the ambush-style shooting July 17 in Baton Rouge.
Lynch praised Sterling’s family for calling for “peace and calm” in the wake of his death, which sparked protests in Baton Rouge and across the nation.
“Loss is loss is loss”, he said. “It didn’t matter about age, race or religion – you could tell this negative incident in their community really affected them”. They were ours and by virtue of their deeds, their sacrifice, their commitment, we were theirs.
Alexander said that they were intimidated into relinquishing their phones. The man with the fearless heart and the generous soul, whose words are always encouraged. He was the father of two, and only a year ago joined the Baton Rouge Police Department.
One of the three officers injured in the attack, Deputy Nicholas Tullier, remained in critical condition Thursday, WAFB-TV reported, while officers Bruce Simmons and Chad Montgomery were released from the hospital July 21. “White people oftentimes did not want us providing services and preferred white officers, while at the same time people in the black community saw us as traitors for joining the police”.
He then joined the Army as a specialist and worked with Blackhawk helicopters. “Each of them had DNA, an instinct to protect and serve”.
Officers also allegedly forced Alexander’s friend to pee in a bottle in the back of the police vehicle. So that their children can grow up in a community that models that kind of brotherly love.
“I will not let hate infect my heart”, the crowd repeated.
It is a shame that often policemen feel that they are in hell with the things happening in today’s world, but you, the public, hold the key to making their world and our world a better place to live. But that is not the story of Baton Rouge. The 62-year-old said she is confident that the ceremony will help unite a community that has been grappling with racial tensions. “We are Baton Rouge strong”. This beloved community is the foundation of a living memorial to our fallen heroes – a memorial that we must build together in the weeks and months to come.
Damarcus Alexander said police officers arrested him and another friend outside the Walmart because the cops suspected the two men might be involved in the shooting of six officers earlier that day on the other side of town, the website reported.

Mr Biden and US Attorney-General Loretta Lynch were among the dignitaries who attended the funeral, along with hundreds of police officers. “We owe it to [the fallen] to be the vessel that carries their faith [in the community] forward”.
