Fight With Khan Family Tests Trump’s ‘Say Anything’ Strategy
Humayun Khan, delivered a forceful condemnation of Trump in a speech at the Democratic National Convention. “When Donald Trump is talking about Islam, he is ignorant”. “Am I not allowed to respond?” he asked.

The Khans also spoke with CNN Monday, and apparently Trump was watching as he tweeted during that appearance that the “story is not about Mr. Khan. but rather RADICAL ISLAMIC TERRORISM”.
The GOP candidate’s latest remarks have caused widespread backlash as Democrats and Republicans alike have risen up to defend the Khan family.
Khizr Khan gave a speech in which he called Trump’s proposal to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the U.S.
The father of a slain Muslim American soldier assailed Donald Trump as a “black soul” on Sunday in an impassioned exchange with the Republican presidential candidate over the qualities required in a United States leader. “And this is totally unfit for the leadership of this attractive country”, Khan said. “The candidate for the president of United States can not empathize with the people that he wishes to lead”, said Khan.
House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wisconsin, said in a statement, “Many Muslim Americans have served valiantly in our military, and made the ultimate sacrifice”.
Khan, whose son Humayun was killed in Iraq in 2004, said at the Democratic convention that Trump had “sacrificed nothing and no one” for the United States.
But both McConnell and Ryan stopped short of criticizing Trump by name for his remarks. “Donald Trump has children whom he loves. He should not be president and Republican leaders have a moral responsibility to say so?”.
On a post-convention bus tour through OH and Pennsylvania, Clinton said Trump has a “total misunderstanding” of American values and has inflamed divisions in American society.
“I want his family to counsel him, teach him some empathy”, he said.
Trump has courted controversy and sparked outrage during his drive for the U.S. presidency with disparaging remarks against immigrants, Muslims and women.

Khizr Khan told CNN on Monday that “We want to be out of this controversy”. During the speech, Ghazala Khan stood quietly by his side.
“If you look at his wife, she was standing there”. She had nothing to say.
On Sunday, Ghazala published an op-ed piece in The Washington Post in which she responded to Trump’s comments on her on-stage silence. “Donald Trump said that maybe I wasn’t allowed to say anything”.
Kasich was joined by Bush on Twitter in slamming Trump. “You are not just attacking us, you are cheapening the sacrifice made by those we lost. I work very, very hard”, Trump told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos. Capt. Khan is a hero. “Tim Kaine and I are people of faith”, she said, referring to her vice presidential running mate, who is a Catholic.
Khizr Khan spoke Thursday at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, where Hillary Clinton accepted the left-leaning party’s presidential nomination. “Hillary voted for the Iraq war, not me!”. He wrote, “Mr. Khan, who does not know me, viciously attacked me from the stage of the DNC and is now all over T.V. doing the same – Nice!”
Across the country, veterans and their families closely watched the political back-and-forth.

“Enough is enough. Every decent Republican. has rebuked this behavior, yet no one has stood up and said, enough, stop it”. “Ours is a sacrifice you will never know”.
