On Historic Night, Hillary Clinton Accepts Nomination

Clinton said it would be her “primary mission” to create more opportunities and more good jobs with rising wages, and to confront stark choices in battling determined enemies and “threats and turbulence” around the world and at home.

“I was talking about her nose”, Trump said in Colorado Springs. “Let me ask you, have you even read the United States Constitution?”

Referring to her nomination as the first woman running for President from a major USA party, she said: “When all the ceilings are broken through, the sky’s the limit”.

Mrs Clinton’s acceptance speech outlined her vision for a country that is “stronger together” – a contrast to her view of Donald Trump and his policies to ban Muslim migration and build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico.

Her chief challenges include convincing Americans dissatisfied with the slow and uneven economic recovery and fearful of a spate of new terrorism attacks that staying the course is better than betting on the unpredictable agenda of Republican rival Donald Trump.

Last October, the National Education Association, the nation’s largest teachers union, gave Hillary Clinton one of her earliest organized labor endorsements.

Hillary Clinton accused Donald Trump of painting a misleadingly dark picture of American society. The 68-year-old Clinton won the nomination after defeating her main opponent, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.

“He’s forgetting every last one of us”, she said. “I’ve seen her holding the hands of mothers anxious about how to feed their kids, how they’ll get them the health care they need”. But if she managed to speak to those who supported Sanders, Hillary won’t mind a bit.

Eric Aldrete, from Arizona, said he ranked the speeches this way: “Michelle, Barack, Bill, and Hillary”.

But she also recognized that many Americans don’t like her much, either, and suspect she’s out for herself. She’ll undoubtedly have some memorable lines – and it’s safe to say that, unlike Ivanka Trump, Chelsea won’t admit to sometimes leaning toward the opposition party.

“We are clear-eyed about what our country is up against, but we are not afraid”, she said.

He also accused Clinton of being dishonest about his abilities as a campaigner.

When she formally accepts it later today, she will become the Democratic standard-bearer against Republican nominee Mr Trump in the 8 November election. Trump has seen a boost in his poll numbers after the Republican convention in Cleveland, and many are beginning to see him as an increasingly realistic threat.
