Yesterday, the iOS and Android update of the game was made available to users.
The new Nintendo update has made it harder for Pokemon fans to catch ’em all after three weeks of hunting, hatching eggs and any money spent on additional features was all wiped. The developers have tried to redress the problem by doing away with the footstep counter from the nearby menu altogether.
The cultural whirlwind that is Pokemon Go may have hit a bit of a snag on its ascent to world domination, all of that because of a seemingly small update to the program that removed certain tracking features.
“I’m trying to stay calm, but why did my Pokemon Go reset and I lost all my levels and Pokemon?!”.
The game developer, Niantic, released an update on 31 July that disabled the in-game tracking system, created to show how close Pokemon are to your location. Most of the appeal still revolves around catching Pokemon, so the customization options aren’t WWE game quality, but they are decent and should be enough for those who downloaded the free-to-play mobile title.
One of the best ways to track the rare Pokemon we see is by looking at the number of footprints under their image.
Footsteps are out and bug fixes are in with the new Pokemon Go update.
But no matter what technique is used, Niantic CEO John Hanke labels them all as cheats and warned that players might find that those stop working in the future. Pokemon GO players know that the footprints tracking function has been broken since about the first weekend the game opened and has never been fixed. You can even change the gender.

Of course, none of the sites going down are pointing the finger at Niantic, but players are putting two and two together. You no longer get a sense of where the Pokemon are, only that they’re nearby.
