Some fans in New York City waited after midnight Sunday for a chance to get a copy.

The bestselling author whose stories have still been weaving magic, after years of their last release recently hinted at a possibility of her much-talked-about play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child being staged worldwide. In the story, Harry Potter is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, as well as a husband and father of three children.
Also picking up the book Sunday was Sara Kiper of Normal. Then, she became fascinated by the books. Harry Potter quizzes, tattoos, live band performances, flash mobs, and a birthday cake for Harry Potter and JK Rowling formed a part of the celebrations. “I watched the movies and enjoyed them, but when I started reading the books, it was life-changing. I’d like as many Potter fans to see it as possible”.
“I’ve got them on a bookshelf at home”, she said. “Reese and Sonja are Harry Potter soul mates”.
In the years after the release of Book 7, even as Rowling began writing books that were decidedly more adult and Muggle in nature, she’s doled out miscellaneous information about the Potterverse that don’t appear in the books. Because it wasn’t a Rowling novel, Grass Roots co-owner Jack Wolcott said he had no idea how many fans would turn out for the release Sunday. “Their eyes light up, they hold it to their hearts, and they immediately sit down right where they are to read the books”, Wolcott said. “That’s the key to us, not just selling a book, but watching kids move into reading books”.
Two longtime fans hold on to their copies of the book in London, England. I think it’s definitely time to stop.
“I hope we have enough to last until we can re-order and get another shipment in”, he said.

As an added bonus for Wolcott, Sunday’s sale also helped the independent bookstore stay alive. I think we’re going to end up ordering it and having it shipped. “As independent book sellers, this nourishes us for a long time”.
