The programming president of the network, Casey Bloys, finally confirmed HBO’s willingness to go along with “Game of Thrones” showrunners David Bennioff and Dan Weiss’ plans to end the series at its eight season. “I can’t believe we’re gonna know how “Game of Thrones” ends in less than two years”, another wrote.

Earlier this month, Game Of Thrones picked up 23 Emmy nominations, the most of any show recognised with a nod.
“Yes, [Weiss and Benioff] have a very specific plan about the number of seasons they want to do”, Bloys said in remarks transcribed by Entertainment Weekly.
Bloys also said he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a “Thrones” spin-off, The Hollywood Reporter said. As the new executive in the company, he said that if he could get ten more seasons of the show he would take it.
If fans are in the dark as to when ‘Game of Thrones’ will slay its final dragon, beat its thumping chest and roll credits on what has been one of the world’s biggest ever TV series, it transpires that the programme bosses turning the wheel are equally confused. I’m not sure the guys can wrap their heads around it when they are about to start production.

The seventh season of Game of Thrones will feature only seven episodes and they will be aired during the summer of 2017, and not in spring as happened for the previous seasons.
