Bailey is sharp in return as Reds beat Padres 3-2
The Reds are 3-1 on their six-game road trip and have won nine of their 13 contests since the All-Star break.TV: 8:40 p.m. ET, FSN Ohio (Cincinnati), FSN San DiegoPITCHING MATCHUP: Reds RH Anthony DeSclafani (6-0, 3.09 ERA) vs. Padres LH Christian Friedrich (4-6, 5.00) DeSclafani remained flawless on the season by winning his fourth consecutive start Monday despite yielding five runs and six hits in five innings at San Francisco.

Paul Clemens doesn’t expect his sore back to cost him any playing time going forward. After making only two starts since August 2014 and rehabbing from two rounds of elbow surgery (including Tommy John in May 2015), RHP Homer Bailey starts for the Reds on Sunday afternoon in the series finale at Petco Park.
“I couldn’t believe it was Peraza hitting the ball to left field like that”, Price said.
Clemens (1-2) was forced to exit with lower back tightness. He threw a career-high eight innings and allowed but five hits when beating San Diego on June 26. Myers raced home without a throw for the Padres second steal of home this season – which cut the Reds lead to 3-2.After Bailey issued a third straight walk to Jabari Blash, right-handed Blake Wood replaced Bailey and struck out Christian Bethancourt to end the threat.NOTES: Padres manager Andy Green said LF Alex Dickerson is not a candidate for the disabled list, although he will miss at least a couple more games due to the bruised right hip he suffered Friday night in an outfield collision with CF Travis Jankowski. “He was just kind of unable to shake it”. “I think this was as good as he’s been since he’s been with us”.
Homer Bailey, a pitcher well-versed in injuries, was solid in his season debut. Christian will look to turn it around after being shellacked against Washington to the tune of five runs on six hits with a walk and no strikeouts over only three innings. He retired 14 consecutive batters during one stretch and had six strikeouts.
Game three of the series is set for Sunday at 4:40 pm.
Tony Cingrani worked the ninth for his 13th save in 18 chances.
The Reds took a 2-1 edge in the second, thanks to some power from an unlikely source. Peraza followed a lead-off single by Eugenio Suarez with his first major-league homer off Clemens.

“I thought the first inning he was over the middle of the plate, a little more than he cared to be”, Green said.
