Trump Under Fire for Comments About Khan Family
NBCNews.com: “The families of 11 service members who died fighting for the USA demanded an apology from Donald Trump on Monday, accusing him of “cheapening the sacrifice made by those we lost”. The Chair of the Council on American Islamic relations released a statement saying: “I urge Donald Trump to apologize for his shameful remarks disparaging a Muslim gold star family and for his repeated use and promotion of anti-Muslim stereotypes”.

“Mr. Khan paid the ultimate sacrifice in his family”.
“I’d like to hear his wife say something”, Trump said to the New York Times.
McCain added pointedly: “I’d like to say to Mr. and Mrs. Khan: thank you for immigrating to America”. “She probably, maybe she wasn’t allowed to have anything to say”, he said. Trump responded by criticizing his wife, Ghazala Khan, for her silence during his speech and suggesting she wasn’t allowed to speak.
It is time for Donald Trump to set the example for our country and the future of the Republican Party.
Ghazala Khan wrote in Sunday’s Washington Post that she did not speak because talking about her son’s death remains hard for her. “I believe that each of us are called every day to show our deepest respect and gratitude to all of those who protect our freedom and their families”.
On TODAY, Khizr Khan said Trump’s reaction to his speech only proves a point he made during the convention – that the Republican nominee has never read the Constitution.
In the days since, the Khans have made the rounds on television, saying on CNN’s “State of the Union” program Sunday that Trump “is a black soul” and calling on congressional GOP leaders to repudiate Trump’s comments.
McCain said his son also served in the Iraq War, and the McCains have been serving in the United States military for hundreds of years. “His ignorance. He can get up and malign the entire nation, the religions, the communities, the minorities, the judges”, Khan said. John McCain, himself a war hero the Republican nominee criticized for getting caught as prisoner of war in Vietnam.

His daughter Meghan McCain said on Twitter on Saturday: “I would ask what kind of barbarian would attack the parents of a fallen soldier, but oh yeah it’s the same person who attacks POW’s”.
