Clinton Helped More By Party Conventions Than Trump
Clinton led Republican nominee Donald Trump by 46-39 percent.

Hillary Clinton has taken the lead in the presidential race following last week’s Democratic convention, according to a CBS News poll out Monday. Trump still leads among men and the un-educated.
Pollsters found Clinton is now topping Trump among Hispanics in the swing-states of Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin.
The Democratic convention continues to plague Trump, however, with the candidate attacking the Muslim parents of a fallen USA soldier who spoke at the Philadelphia event, which has drawn criticism from both political parties.
If recent campaigns are any indicator, most partisans will end up backing their party’s candidate, which hypothetically makes it pretty easy for Clinton to get close to that 50 percent mark. There was no gender gap in perceptions of Trump’s speech. That’s a 5-point improvement for Clinton (inside the margin of sampling error for this subgroup), an 8-point dropoff in the share who say they’d back Trump and a 7-point increase in support for Jill Stein. Before the Democratic Convention, only 67% of Bernie Sanders supporters were planning on voting for Clinton.
But when a poll displays a real change of course from the historical example, it’s worth noting.
Both conventions featured their candidate’s family members prominently, but Americans aren’t so sure they should have that much of a role in any administration.
It may be the dead of summer, but Hillary Clinton has sprung in the latest general election poll. Clinton spoke about domestic policy, national security and beating Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

The CBS poll surveyed 1,393 adults across the country, via cell phones and landlines, and was conducted July 29-31.
