The latest Liverpool signing, Georginio Wijnaldum, has arrived in the US to join up with his new team mates.

Klopp said a conversation with the 25-year-old was enough to realise he would be a ideal fit at Anfield. It’s good to see Liverpool completing the bulk of the summer’s transfer business before playing the tougher teams in the club’s pre-season schedule.

He hailed his new manager, declaring he always loves “to watch him” due to his “passion as a trainer”.

The Dutch midfielder will now jet off to the US to link up with Klopp’s side as they continue their pre-season tour in America.

Klopp has already signed goalkeeper Loris Karius, centre-back Joel Matip, forward Sadio Mane and midfielder Marko Grujic this summer. “I like watching players and following their way”, he said.

Manninger, a former Austria worldwide who also played for Fiorentina, Udinese and Juventus, had been training with Liverpool prior to him signing a contract.

“We had a talk and I think after this talk I think we both knew we wanted to work together”.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager revealed that he was convinced about Wijnaldum following their conversation and believes that he has signed a “real footballer” and someone who is more advanced than his current age.

The move away from Newcastle comes after the club was relegated to the Championship after a hard season in the English top flight.

“He eventually ended up at PSV and Newcastle, before moving to Anfield”.

Wijnaldum contributed 11 goals from midfield for Newcastle last term but they all came at St James’ Park, with his performances away from home drawing criticism from some supporters.

“I know him really well and played alongside him at the 2014 World Cup”.
