According to an ESPN magazine article in 2015 titled “Jonathan Lucroy Needs a Raise”, Lucroy produced 121 stolen strikes in the previous season, and in the past five seasons clocks in at more than 1,000, the most in Major League Baseball. “Had a team that had very clear direction”.
Jonathan Lucroy says he’s been traded to the AL West-leading Texas Rangers.
Ortiz, 20, is 4-6 with a 3.48 ERA for two clubs in the Rangers’ minor league system.
The Rangers are also getting right-handed reliever Jeremy Jeffress in the deal.
Tate was the consolation prize for the Rangers’ bad 2014 season, a season that – until the final weeks – had the Rangers in position to make the #1 overall pick in the draft.
Lucroy acknowledged the trade in a tweet on Monday. The 30-year-old was having a terrific season for Milwaukee, hitting.299 with 13 home runs and 50 RBI’s, but the veteran catcher will also help the Texas pitching staff with his experience and on field leadership, something that could make this a unsafe team over the next few weeks.
I hope the Brewers come to Cleveland next year and the fans can show Lucroy what they think of his decision.
Beltran has been in the league since 1998, making the postseason five times with four different teams.
Lucroy, who had the Indians on his non-trade list, vetoed the trade Sunday morning when the Indians would not only decline to provide financial incentives for him to accept the deal, but also would not guarantee that he would be their everyday catcher in 2017, a person with direct knowledge of the trade told USA TODAY Sports. The New York Mets and Texas Rangers were reportedly among the other teams interested in Lucroy. Ortiz, a 20-year-old starting pitcher now in Double-A, was a first-round pick in 2014 and was ranked 64th entering 2016 by BA. According to sources LUCROY wanted the 2017 year option removed, that could have made him a free agent this season, The Indians said no According to United States of America today.
Brinson, the Rangers’ first-round draft pick in 2012, batted.237 with 11 homers, 40 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 77 games at Double-A Frisco this season. He is now hitting.237 with 11 home runs and 11 stolen bases.
Nationals ace Stephen Strasburg tries to become the first pitcher in the majors with 15 wins this season when he starts at Arizona.

In Lucroy, the Rangers acquire what many consider to be the second-best catcher in all of baseball, behind Buster Posey.
