Indians acquire Miller, Lucroy vetoes deal
“I liked living in NY”, he said before the Yankees game Sunday in Tampa. “I think when it eventually comes out, everyone will understand why”. Francona said. “I bet you those guys are going to sleep well when this thing’s over, because they’ve been grinding”. “They’re going to be fine”.

The teams had reached preliminary agreement on a deal late Saturday night to send Lucroy, a two-time All-Star, to the Indians for three minor leaguers.
CLEVELAND A person familiar with the situation says Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy has blocked his proposed trade to the Cleveland Indians.
Cleveland, which leads the AL Central, has been looking for a catcher since Yan Gomes separated his shoulder. Somebody that we all kind of lean on, and he helped us the last couple of years. “This is new to me, obviously, but it’s tough when you see good friends go”. The Indians sent four minor league prospects to NY, including outfielder Clint Frazier, the Indians’ first round pick in the 2013 draft.
Perhaps more importantly, it gives the Indians two pitchers who are interchangeable in the later innings, allowing Francona to fully leverage his starting rotation, which is averaging the second-most innings per start (6.1) in the American League.
The Indians had been tracking Miller for weeks but were reluctant to part with any of their top prospects, especially Frazier, a 21-year-old who can hit with power and was recently promoted to Triple-A Columbus.
“We’ve done a dance with the blessing of ownership, we exploited the market to make out future better”, said Cashman, who acquired top shortstop prospect Gleyber Torres from the Cubs. for Chapman last Monday. “It is why we engage with multiple teams throughout the entirety of the negotiation”. “I’m not going to change one bit, whatever they ask me to do, hopefully do it up to their standards”. They didn’t [shortcut] it. They went and got the best there is. With Clay Buchholz coming around as a reliever after some adjustments to his arm slot and Craig Kimbrel on the way back from the disabled list, the bullpen seems like it’s in a good place, too.
With both relievers gone, Betances will take over as the team’s primary closer. The Indians were one of eight teams on Lucroy’s no-trade clause and there apparently was an issue he had with them regarding Lucroy’s request to have the Indians remove the option year for 2017 which would have made Lucroy a free agent.
The 24-year-old Campos is 9-3 with a 3.20 ERA this year in 20 combined starts for Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He pitched seven innings of one-hit ball in Seattle’s 4-1 victory against the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.
Seattle received left-hander Ariel Miranda in Sunday’s trade. Miller has mostly been a setup man, which is what he was with the Yankees this year, pitching mostly in the eighth inning.
In 146 appearances during his first stint with the Yankees, Warren’s ERA never finished the year above 3.39. “We aren’t trying to finish with the worst record ever so we can get the first (draft) pick”. They are 5-4 vs. Cleveland this year.
