Benedict Cumberbatch stars as a neurosurgeon-turned-sorcerer in the forthcoming Marvel film Doctor Strange.

Doctor Strange hits theaters on November 4.

San Diego Comic Con has always been a favorite of science fiction, fantasy and comic book lovers, and this year is definitely no exception.

“Doctor Strange” follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific auto accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions. Looking to help regain his skills, he turns to an unusual mystic and healer known as The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton). She tells the doctor, “we harness energy and shape reality”. Additionally a short was shown revealing to fans what Chris Hemsworth’s Thor was doing during the events of Captain America: Civil War.

We do know that Chiwetel Ejiofor is playing Baron Mordo, who appears to be Doctor Strange’s Obi-Wan Kenobi (those familiar with the comic books might not agree with that comparison), and that Mads Mikkelsen with his supernatural eyeshadow is the movie’s villain, reportedly named Kaecilius.

Kurt Russell, also present for the panel, was confirmed as Star Lord’s (Pratt) father in a newly release trailer, resulting in a resounding cheer from the audience.

San Diego’s Comic-Con is a colourful mix of dedicated comic fans and a treasure trove of upcoming film trailers and new projects in the works.

Bratt is best known for his Emmy-awarding winning role as NYPD Detective Rey Curtis on NBC’s long-running drama Law & Order.

Typically, trailers and other footage presented at San Diego Comic Con is relatively raw, with numerous visual effects still needing to be finished, but that does not mean that fans are not hoping for a great surprise from Chris Pratt, James Gunn and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 cast. The movie is due for release in May next year.
